I'm from out of town (Michigan), the service is second to none, and the food is amazing. Thanks to the friendly staff, you made my stay in Washington DC a much more enjoyable experience.
have to rave about the Old Bay Crab Tots as well as the Buffalo Chicken Totchos; decent drink specials that last past a standard happy hour as well! -

Came here for their happy hour on Tuesday. There's a great outdoor area with pretty ample seating, even if you're coming in a big group. Their Tuesday Happy Hour drink specials were okay ($6 for well drinks, $13 bud light pitcher, $4.50 select bourbons, $4.50 Belgian bottles), but would have loved to see more beer specials or even a wine special, as well as a food special. Additionally, there wasn't a happy hour menu provided. However, the drink specials change daily, and the nice thing is that it's happy hour from 5 pm to close Monday-Friday. Service was pretty slow, even though we had 4 different servers attend to us.
Food:
Options were decent - my favorite was the cheese curds (would DEFINITELY order these again), and my least favorite by far was the spicy chicken quesadilla (having lived in both Mexico and Texas, it was definitely neither Mexican nor Tex-Mex).
Other things we tried:
-Fried pickles: more pickle than fry, and not too greasy
-Crab cake sandwich: the tater tots were excellent and come with a homemade ranch (which wasn't as creamy as I like usually), and the crab cake was decent but have had better crab cakes
-Buffalo chicken wrap: again, tots were excellent. The wrap tasted solid but fell apart almost immediately.
Verdict:
It's close to work so I will probably return for a happy hour at some point since the food and drinks were decent, and the hours for the happy hour are great, but probably wouldn't make the trip if was further away. -

staff is always angry, annoyed, and inattentive, and the clientele is the worst of Capitol Hill. But solid spot for a drink on the patio to watch sports and the burger and wings are fine. Also, I legit just watched a bartender button and zip up her pants before serving me. Whuuut?
Edit - the burger I just got as takeout from the rude bartender with the unbuttoned pants is missing the bacon. Not the end of the world, but...this place is a consistent last resort. And I'm thinking I might not resort to it any longer. -

Yes!!! This place was awesome. I went with friends after someone suggested it to us based on convenient distance to the capital. We were able to seat ourselves. It was packed due to lunch time. Our server was nice and friendly.
We placed our orders fast. I got the chicken philly and fries but also ordered sweet potato fries as an appetizer. The fries came out fast and the group loved them. They were fresh, hot and flavorful. Some of the best I have had. Then our food came out. I thought I may have to add something to my meal, but it was seasoned just right. It was one of the best chicken philly sandwiches that I have had in a long time. The fries were good too. I really enjoyed this meal.
I would definitely return. Service was good. He was attentive even when it was busy. He separated our checks which was great because some people had to leave earlier than others. The food was terrific and flavored to my liking. -

Union Pub is a place that has great deals, but if you're not there for the deals, then why are you there? What I mean is that if you're going to Union Pub, you're not going to get the best food you've ever had, you're not going to pay the cheapest prices in town if you're ordering off the normal menu, you're overall not going to have the best experience ever.
However, I do think that if you're going here and ordering their nightly specials, then you are getting a good deal. For example the Brunch is a $20 bottomless brunch. Not only that but it's a self serve bottomless where you have a few different options. Also, the breakfast tatchos were very good. They were essentially nachos where the chips were replaced with tots. That's an unbelievable move! Also, they have many different variations of totchos and all of them look very good.
